Marlow 78 Explorer 2005 for sale

The Marlow 78 has few peers in terms of exceptional accommodations AND exceptional speed. A king master, a king VIP and a day bunk, as well as captains quarter for two provide suitable living for a party of 8 plus two crew. In keeping the Marlow tradition, the pilot house offers a generous country kitchen, ample dining space and of course the very functional helm. The opposing seating in the salon, along with a separate dining table make the yacht very livable.

The CATS 3412E will push the boat to a fast cruise in the 20’s and a WOT of almost 30 knots.

Most unique compared to other 78’s in this market is the ability to bring the clearance/air draft of the vessel to 20′ by utilizing an electrically retracted radar mount.

Varnish and teak decks had a recent refresh and the list of updates over the years is long.

Review the recent photos and details and call for a showing.

This Marlow 78 is located presently in Maine, be departing for South Carolina in late October.

Please contact us at 514-521-1221 for all details about this Marlow 78 Explorer.

Accommodations
Whether entering from the double transom doors from the Euro style swim platform or boarding through port or starboard bulwark doors, you will see the superior quality that sets a Marlow Explorer apart from its competitors.

As you stroll around beautifully handcrafted teak decks, installed without fasteners to avoid any opportunity for leaks, you will notice all the best features we could imagine incorporated into the yacht. The Portuguese Bridge with high bulwarks allows movement both fore and aft.

The design of these yachts, while classic in style, incorporates modern composite materials and construction methods that are not available in any other yacht. While fit and finish are common terms used in the marine industry, at Marlow Yachts the terminology better describing the yachts is “craftsmanship created by artisans”.

There is no settling for adequate, as the factory strives to build the very best always. While lounging on the covered aft decks with custom built-in seating and teak table, you will be amazed at the space on board. The arched ladder leading to the bridge deck is placed above a fiberglass cabinet style access hatch and door which leads down to the crew cabin with sleeping for two and complete head and separate shower.

Forward of the crew cabin is the huge engine room and machinery space. Mechanics from main engine suppliers are impressed with the 6 foot plus head room and the ability to move around the front and outside of both engines with ease. The transom access door from the lazarette storage area provides convenient access without disruption to the owners who may be aboard.

Just above on the aft deck, a study door accesses the spacious main salon. Custom built and decorated with designer fabrics, spectacular is the word that immediately comes to mind. All the way aft, twin leather recliners face a Phillips Flat Panel TV which is mounted in the forward end of the salon and surrounded by teak cabinetry and drawers.

Opposing sofas feature seat bases that lift hydraulically to expose Formica lined storage underneath. You will not find any unfinished surfaces, anywhere. A teak hi-lo cocktail table complements teak blinds and teak and holly floors, and a custom round teak dining table, finished in high gloss, accents designer dining chairs.

The pilothouse, galley and dining area, up three steps from the salon, allow the captain to enjoy the company of all aboard.

The island style galley, complete with two stainless steel lined, drawer style, U-Line refrigerators, additional Sub-zero freezer, drawer style Fisher-Paykel dishwasher, Dacor smooth top range and oven, Sharp microwave, garbage disposal, Grohe fixtures, Franke stainless sink, and black galaxy granite countertops, combine to create a chef’s dream in which to create culinary delights.

The pilothouse helm is fully equipped with redundancy on all electronics including two full PC based navigation packages. An overhead systems panel, provides readouts of the ship’s systems.

The four staterooms, accessed from the pilothouse via a teak staircase, are custom finished in light maple artistically accented with teak trim and joinery, right down to the cabin doors which are finished in maple on the interior side and teak on the hallway side.

German Schwepper door locks finish the look and feel of quality. The VIP stateroom is forward with king centerline berth and private head with separate shower, all with nearly 7′ headroom. Twin lockers are cedar lined and lighted, and the cabinetry is finely finished furniture.

A hatch, just aft of the berth, provides access to the bow thruster and lower bilges which are finished in high gloss white awlgrip. Aft and to port is a guest stateroom with oversized single berths, also complete with private head and separate shower.

Stainless steel opening port lights supply plenty of light and
ventilation. Opposite the guest stateroom is the 4th stateroom with queen sized berth, elevated to accommodate an ASKO washer and dryer, and teak sliding tambour doors which allow the area to be open or closed off for privacy.

Moving aft is a luxurious master stateroom with a centerline king size berth, a settee surrounded by lockers starboard, a beautifully finished vanity table surrounded by curved drawers portside, and full width his and her heads aft, each fully outfitted with luxury granite sinks and pewter and gold Grohe fixtures, adding to the rich feel of this yacht. A finely crafted desk with chair and Shoji privacy screens forward add that final touch of finish unique to a Marlow.

The Crew’s quarter’s aft are equipped with head and separate shower plus flat panel TV and direct TV receiver.

Viewing the Yacht from across the basin, you are tantalized by her classic lines, and beautiful flag blue hull. Such a classic yacht immediately beckons you to come aboard. Entering the cockpit you notice the teak decks, and the amount of open space that invites you for cocktails at sunset. The extended boat deck hard top provides protection from rain and sun in the cockpit. As you walk around the outside of the Yacht you notice the details: no window frames, built-in bow seating, high bulworks which provide safe walkways around the yacht. At the bow is an anchor windlass which controls two anchors with 150 feet of chain on the Danforth, and 300 feet of chain on the Bruce. There are port and starboard power cords, fresh and salt water hose bibs. TV and phone cable connections and the shore water pressure regulator are all located in the bow storage cabinets. Returning to the cockpit, you enter into the salon which is wide open and you can see from bow to stern. The beautiful teak interior, with splashes of color, soothes you into dreams of cruising for weeks or months on end. In the salon aft corner is the entrance to the crew quarters and the engine room. Looking forward and to port are two reclining chairs, a 50″ Samsung flat screen TV and the bar area. Scanning to starboard and forward you notice a settee with a folding table for enjoying your favorite beverage, or working on the computer, and looking aft you see a beautiful U-shaped settee and coffee table.

On the forward port side of the salon are the steps into the pilothouse and galley. There is an excellent galley set up with state of the art refrigeration and appliances, and a helm station that is designed like a piece of art, with a very comfortable dinette.

Heading down the curved stairway to the staterooms, your attention is focused on the quality of the wood, recessed hand rails, and the finish of the teak. Forward is the VIP stateroom with a queen size bed, in-suite head and shower.

Moving aft and to port is the guest stateroom, with an in-suite head and separate shower. Again the fit and finish is a work of art.

Exiting the guest stateroom and moving aft you enter the master stateroom. The stateroom is full width. The king size bed is for and aft on center line, and there are twin heads with a central shower, rows of drawers and many closets. It is such a large warm area it is hard to believe that this boat is only 70’ feet in length.
Flybridge
As you head up to the flybridge, either from the pilot house or by the cockpit stairway aft, you realize the size of this boat. Again, another area invites you to sit back, relax, and enjoy the moment. There is seating for up to seven people, a refrigerator, icemaker, sink, and a grill, plus lots of storage.

Salon
When entering the salon from the cockpit your attention is captured by the vast amount of space in this area. As you look forward and to starboard, you notice a very comfortable settee and coffee table, and to port a 50-inch Samsung TV with new hydraulic lift upgrade, and the Bose home theater system with surround sound, neatly fitted between two comfortable chairs. Also to port is the granite wet bar, with a wine cooler, refrigerator, glass and liquor storage, new wine cooler Silhouette Select brand, and a sink. Just to starboard of the bar is a settee that looks aft and has a fold up table that functions as an office or a bar top. Above the settee and forward are a set of custom cabinets for your finest china and stem ware.
Galley
Up three steps from the salon is the galley, which is a state of the art gourmet kitchen. The very large granite countertop provides more space than will ever be needed to serve that special dinner. Custom solid wood cabinets and dovetailed drawers, both completely finished inside with Formica, provide large amounts of storage in the galley. For convenience and safety, just to port of the galley, is the stair up to the flybridge, the port pilothouse door, and the electrical panels located in the aft section of the pilothouse settee.

Pilothouse
The pilothouse and the galley are the heart of this boat. To port is a comfortable dinette with seating for up to five people. Forward is the helm station and to starboard is the stair down to the staterooms and the starboard pilothouse door. Underneath the helm station is a large area finished in Formica. There is enough room to allow the electronics technician easy access for installing equipment and making repairs if necessary. Both the 120 volt and 240 volt AC electrical system, 12 and 24 volt DC panels, the navigation and the commnications systems are located in this area. Above the helm station from port to starboard is the status panel for all systems. Starting on the port side of the panel are the 12 and 24 volt navigation and electronic circuit breakers, the tank tender, fire buoy system indicator, inverter controls, stabilizer controls, emergency panel warning lights, and all the pump and navigation lights switches.

Companionway
Moving forward and down from the pilothouse is the companionway to the three staterooms, which all have en-suite heads and showers. The maple woods with teak accent highlights makes these areas bright and airy.
VIP Stateroom
The VIP stateroom, located in the bow of the boat, has a Queen size island bed and cedar-lined hanging closets on both sides. Under the bed are six drawers that are finished with twelve coats of varnish and lined with Formica. Also under the bed are two Cablemasters for the forward power cords. The chain locker also resides in this area, as does the bow thruster. The en-suite head with separate stall shower is made of the finest materials, Grohe fixtures and granite sink tops, and a VacuFlush toilet.
15” Flat Panel TV
DVD Player

Guest Stateroom
The guest stateroom has upper and lower twin sized beds, and en-suite head with a separate shower. The 15-inch flat screen TV with built-in DVD player provides entertainment for your guests. A neat cedar-lined closet has room for hanging clothes and under the lower bed are drawers that provide more storage.

Master Stateroom
Two steps down and aft is the spacious master stateroom. The maple woods with teak accents makes this area feel much larger than its actual size. This is accomplished by the use of composite structure everywhere in the cabinets, closets, heads and the hull. Composites are thinner and stronger, i.e. take up less space. This stateroom is wow, huge, warm and comfortable. The king size bed is fore and aft on center line, cedar-lined closets and drawers are to starboard. Forward and to starboard a cabinet encloses the Bosch washer and dryer, and to port is a flat screen 26-inch TV and a DVD Player. On the port side is a settee with storage underneath, book shelves, and two cedar- lined closets. The heads are aft of the bed, one to port, the other to starboard with a central shower.
Engine Room and Crew Quarters
There are two entries to these areas. The salon entry is very easy to use; it allows you to access the engine room without going outside, a real safety feature when you are cruising in heavy weather. On nice days and to help in loading items into storage, there is a large aft hatch in the cockpit.

Engine Room
Entry to the engine room is from the crew quarters. The watertight door has a window that allows you to check the engine room before opening the door. Upon entering the engine room you immediately notice the head room of more than 6 feet. This is a white engine room, and it is spotless. Every piece of equipment is like new. The twin engines are soft mounted to reduce vibration, and coupled with the Aqua Drive system to reduce vibration. The sea chest forward and between the engines provides sea water for every piece of equipment that uses sea water.

The major vacuum bagged components are built in only three major molds constituting a marvelous technological advance that eliminates dozens of potential leaks and unsightly joint areas. Resin infusion is extensively used where appropriate. The Marlow Explorer exterior finish is among the finest on earth and will look like fine porcelain for years to come. Marlow yachts are designed and built to cross the oceans of the world in comfort and safety while the proprietary Strut Keel© technology allows inland and island cruising with fully protected running gear. Marlow Yachts are certified by ABS (American Bureau of Shipping), Lloyds Register, and ISO 9001, a status enjoyed by less than a handful of pleasure powerboat manufacturers worldwide.
